Angelina Jolie In the Land of Blood and Honey Suprise

After that devastating news about Whitney Houston's death yesterday, I got some good news in the mail today. I received a package from Angelina Jolie's press people in California, U.S.A. It is the poster for her directorial movie debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey. On January 12 this year, this blog hosted a LIVE Q&A web conference with Angelina Jolie discussing her movie. As a token of thanks, this movie poster was promised to me and one of my commentators. I hope Florencio Jusay, the chosen commentator, also got his.

Whitney Houston's Death at 48

The passing away of Whitney Houston at the young age of 48 was such a terrible news. I am not a huge fan per se, as I was not as devastated as I was when Michael Jackson passed away in 2009 (and mourned his death to the point that I got depressed and totally forgot about my husband's birthday for 2 years), but I was shocked nonetheless with Whitney Houston's sudden death. It was her 80's hit songs "How Will I Know", "Saving All My Love For You", "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" and "Didn't She Almost Have It All" that lulled me to sleep when my then boyfriend (now husband) broke up with me in 2001. Her movie, The Bodyguard is one of my ultimate favorites. And her voice... oooh her golden voice... is just simply incomparable. 

She was supposed to attend the Grammy's and then this happened.  It's just so sad seeing a uniquely talented lady of her caliber die so soon. My condolences to her family, friends and dear loved ones.  :(

 
To this day, every time I hear Whitney Houston's "How Will I Know", I feel "kilig", giddy, excited and "in love" all at the same time. Maybe it's the conditioning I had growing up. 80's was the time I started liking boys and this song kept playing over the radio. :)

My Windsurfing Ensemble

Going out of town can be quite exciting for me as I get to wear some of my clothes that I don't get to wear every day. One of these pieces is my  crocheted haltered top which I paired with a knitted cardigan sweater since it was a bit chilly that morning. I also wore my layered skirt and my super comfy Cushe slippers. 

When we reached Surf Kamp, I changed into my windsurfing ensemble. Aside from my old Fluidsurf rash guard, I also got to wear my new pair of board shorts and AXA aqua shoes which I bought sometime ago. Teehee. Happiness!

Avril Lavigne is coming back to Manila on Feb. 16, 2012. The Canadian Singer will rock the stage of Smart Araneta once again for The Black Star tour.

My Nike Air Max 1

I bought myself a pair of Nike Air Max 1 in black/perfect pink. My hubby wanted me to get a new pair of sneakers coz maybe he feels guilty that he has tons of  'em while this is only my fourth pair. Teehee. I still have my Nike Shox, the very first blogger gift I got in 2006 and it's still looking pretty sturdy; I still have my Ryka sneakers which is already looking a bit dilapidated coz it's what I have been using when biking around the village and exercising at home; and my brown and purple Addidas Retrek Jogger which I wore when we climbed the waterfalls in Mambukal and is still looking quite new.

Dancing the Night Away in My Korean Furry Pumps

 

Last weekend, I had the chance to wear my Korean furry pumps again (my 2nd time since I last bought it in one of Eastwood's Holiday Bazaars in  2010) when my hubby and I went on a dinner date in Harbour Square then headed to Republiq in Resorts World Manila to celebrate my girl friend's birthday (Happy birthday, Danes!).

Flower Power: Winter 2012 Fashion Trend

Floral prints are very, very HOT this season. I'm just not sure if this floral fashion trend has has already reached the Philippines yet but yep, you read it right! Hollywood celebs have already been spotted wearing chic, beautiful, bright floral prints coz this particular trend is no longer limited to Spring time. To name a few, you see in the photos below Lauren Conrad, Jessica Alba,  Vanessa Hudgens, Miranda Kerr, and many more. They have already been caught wearing gorgeous floral dresses despite the cold weather.


Wouldn't it be nice here in Manila too? Considering that it's getting pretty hot lately, then I say what a perfect combination. If in case you get cold, just match it up with tights, chunky scarf and jacket. So let go of the boring colors this season and go floral. Now that's what you call flower power!

Me and My Twinky Boots

It was sometime last week that I accompanied my sister to Alabang Town Center to look for a pair of Crocs slippers that she's been eyeing for sometime now. She found one for her girlfriend and bought a pair.  On our way out of the big mall, we passed by a window display of fashionable boots. I had no plans of buying but I thought there's no harm in trying out some and see if they fit. 

I Love the Nightlife...

I remember those years when I was out almost every night, drinking, dancing and partying the hours away even on a working day. Then the early 30's hit me and I slowly turned into a hermit. Teehee. ^_^ I still went out, but mostly to travel. I used to attend blog events when I can before and rarely went out with my friends. In large part, the kind of work I chose to do is to be blamed, which took my evening and early morning hours. Then 2012 came, which could be the end of the world (or not!), and I vowed to change my lifestyle for the better and make it more balanced. 

So I delved into productive activities like vegetable gardening and herbal soap making. I'm getting more serious with my windsurfing as I now move into the intermediate level. I also enrolled in a gym and will also soon enroll in Bikram Yoga. I also have plans of finally learning how to drive this year, plus taking advanced classes for drums and guitar. I want to make each second count so whether the world ends on Dec. 21 or not, at least I was able to accomplish all the goals I've been putting off for so long.

One other promise that I made to myself this year is to go out some more. It would be good for my health and my overall psyche. As long as I eat and drink stuff that are good for me, or at least take the forbidden food and drinks only sparingly, I'd be doing myself some good. 

So since the new year started, every chance I get, that's what I've been doing:

 Comedy Night  @ 22nd Street in Las Pinas. I was with my hubby and my sister who went gaga over the male vocalist of the band that night!

My Teeny Bopper Getup

First and foremost, I have no illusions of being super young. But sometimes, it's nice to be able to pull off an attire and have younger people believe that I'm the same age as them. Hihihi! Okay, seriously, that wasn't my plan at all. I just wanted to stop wearing my usual A-line and tube dresses that day coz I don't like it when people ask me if I'm pregnant just because those dresses make me look like one (or I'm getting fat).
